The John Miller Program with Susan Maletta, Aug. 15

August is meant for all things HOT and SIZZLING... like steak fajitas, America's Best Dance Crew, Britney Spears' new herpes sores....and...The John Miller Program with Susan Maletta! Tonight...

Damon Williams is a Chicago-based comedian who has made numerous television appearances such as BET's Comic View (annually since '94) including his own one hour special. He's been featured on BET LIVE and most recently hosted several episodes of the legendary Showtime at the Apollo, formerly hosted by TV star Steve Harvey. In 1999 Damon performed for over 300,000 fans as the opening act for the highly successful Kings of Comedy Tour establishing him as one of the elite Comics in the nation. Damon was chosen to attend The Us Comedy Arts festival in Aspen (Feb 2000). In the summer of 2000, Damon headlined the Cedric the Entertainer Comedy Revue. Damon is a crowd favorite on the club and concert circuit and is currently on the Black Comedy Tour consisting of over 30 colleges and universities. His material is universal and there's something for all ages. His popularity has provided him the opportunity to work with some of the biggest stars in the business. Some of these stars include Aretha Franklin, Pattie Labelle, Luther Vandross, Ray Charles, Harry Belafonte, Chris Rock and even Little Richard.

The monthly comedy shows he produced for the past two years at the House of Blues came about after one appearance on the Jenny Jones Show. He was contracted to write, perform, and produce over 50 episodes. His starring role in the hit musical comedy tour "Laughin' on the Outside Cryin' on the Inside" generated standing ovations every performance. And finally, Damon maintains his weekly comedy showcase at B'n'J's in Matteson IL and often opens for the hit sketch comedy team "Forgotten City" at Second City a star on the rise his motto is "Don't Stop and Don't Quit." We are definately excited to have Damon Williams on our show!

Next up on the JMP, we are happy to have Jabari Davis and Tony Sparks on the show!

OK I am stoked. My friend and the hilarious comedian Jabari Davis is coming on the show! Jabari CRACKS ME UP!!! I recently watched Jabari host the Roast of Tony Sparks, and I was absolutely blown away by how naturally funny he is as a comedian, roast master, and improviser. Also he is just a genuinely nice guy and fun person to hang out with. (And a lot of comedians are dicks, so that is saying something!) Jabari Davis is a hilarious LA-native comedian who performs at all the hottest shows in the area including Raw Comedy Night at Poleng Lounge, Speech Therapy at Il Pirata, King Pin Comedy, and Live at Deluxe at Club Deluxe. "This young comic is taking San Francisco by storm - a talent not to be overlooked." -- Tony Sparks, Father of SF Comedy.

Tony Sparks is lovingly known as the "Father of SF Comedy", as he is responsible for much of this comedy madness in San Francisco and in Oakland. Tony hosts the Speech Therapy comedy showcase at Il Pirata on the first Friday of the month. He also hosts Comedy & More at the SF Playhouse Sundays, and the Thursday open mic at the Brain Wash. Tony Sparks is one of the nicest and funniest comedians you can meet. He's also one of the best comedy hosts you could be entertained by. Wonderfully supportive to comics of all levels (newbies to veterans), he helps make stage time available to anyone who wants it. Tony Sparks is a class act when it comes to professionalism, supporting the comedy community, and bringing non-stop laughs and fun to us all.

Finally we bring you two of the funniest, dirtiest, most deranged minds (next to mine) in the bay area...Lisa Myers and Daymon Ferguson!

Growing up, comedian Lisa Myers stood out as the oddball in a sea of flannel shirts and John Deere caps the small coastal town she grew up in. Born into a community of Scandinavians and hillbillies, she ran screaming for the big city as soon as she was able. On her path, the mouthy kid blossomed into a fully functioning funny broad. Part trucker, part pin-up girl, Lisa’s in-your-face comedy stretches the audience to the limits of taboo and perception, quickly establishing that she is not your typical “lady comic”. Whether she’s performing to a crowd of 10 or 10,000, her sardonic personality and less-than-demure attitude emerge on stage with attention grabbing and thought provoking humor. Having tackled venues from Seattle to Hollywood, and having recently performed alongside Robin Williams, Lisa is now sharing her act with most places in-between.

Daymon Ferguson hails from Hell. Or rather, Chico California, where he was born into a white trash tradition that he’s been trying to escape ever since. High school brought the impetus Daymon needed to become a comedian—he announced to his tenth grade drama teacher that he would one day become a stand-up comic. He got right on that, too. A mere twenty years later, here he is! But first he had to take care of a few other careers—Daymon has been a diesel truck mechanic, pizza delivery guy, forklift mechanic, waiter, racecar driver, ditch digger, exotic dancers’ bodyguard, and lawyer. All of which have helped prepare him for a career standing up in front of a bunch of people, telling dick jokes. Six years of work as a lawyer have taught Daymon to truly despise lawyers. Since making the decision to quit law for comedy, he’s started to feel his soul growing back. It kind of itches. When he’s not in front of a jury or worse, a crowded comedy club, Daymon likes to tempt the fates that have let him live for the last 35 years. He flies small planes, scuba dives, and pretends to be a medieval warrior by putting on 50 pounds of plate metal and running around in the blazing sun getting hit by big men with sticks. He is also an actor, a half-assed guitar player, and an avid wine connoisseur. (But please don’t call him a wine geek—he prefers the far more dignified “cork dork.”) He’ll pay $100 for a bottle of wine. But in beer he is true to his white trash roots—he refuses to spend more than $6 on a 12-pack. Daymon lives in San Jose, California with his lovely wife and baby daughter, his dog, three cats, some fish, and a bunch of fussy, demanding, and emotionally abusive houseplants.

Now then. Slip into something uncomfortable. Tune in!
