OK. Without further ado, let's talk about TONIGHT's good times. Tonight is the John Miller Program with Susan Maletta, starting at 8 pm until midnight, yes that's four hours of non-stop insanity and hilarity...and we have some pretty spectacular guests on the line-up, as usual. Starting with our good friend and regular to the program....Steve Booth!
Steve Booth has had a varied career in stand-up, television, and film. His commercials include "Free Doritos – Snow globe throwing office worker," which was voted Superbowl XLIII’s NUMBER ONE COMMERCIAL by USA Today, MSNBC and YouTube, "Get More Heinz – Big Kid," a Herbert Brothers Production, and "Duct Tape – Duct Taped Roomate," a Doritos Crash The Superbowl Finalist that aired on Comedy Central, MTV, and G4. Steve was host of 17 episodes of XLTV, which aired on UPN for two seasons. He was also a featured performer on Uncut. Steve also appeared on SplatterFactor as comic relief interviewing paintball players and fans. This show aired for one season on FOXSPORTS. Steve has also had numerous small spots in music videos, local commercials, and appearances as a local personality.
Steve was also a featured comedian in the South of Sanity Stand-Up Comedy Tour, was a Finalist in Jerry Springer’s Funniest Fan Contest, and was a featured comedian in Laughter From The Homefront – a DVD for troops in Iraq. He has done hundreds of performances at comedy clubs, colleges, corporations, and theaters across the midwest. He is currently the Director of Nacho Mamas Comedy, and has been in the Wit’s End Comedy Troupe, Trespassers Only Improv Comedy, and Friday Night Live. Steve also taught improv and acting workshops at Xavier University and for corporate sales/brand/team building. Steve has authored a book and DVD series entitled Improv Games for Groups. He was also author and performer on House of Bugs, a 10-song children’s music CD, and he was author and performer for a 12-song comedy album entitled “Screwed, Blued, and Tattooed”. Steve Booth was also a celebrity judge at the Oxford International Film Festival.
With the gift of gab and a passion for people, it’s no wonder Sandy Stec has taken the entertainment world by storm. Currently an on-air personality for Mix 106.5 in San Jose, Sandy has hosted her own mid-day radio show for over 8 years, music and humor intensive.
But when the on-air mic is "off," the comedy mic is ON. A regular at the Punchline, Cobbs Comedy Club, the Riviera in Las Vegas and many other venues, Sandy has entertained audiences with her sarcastic life stories and dialect-driven characters from coast to coast. Her stand-up has allowed her to work with greats like Dana Carvey, Jake Johannsen, Brett Butler, Chelsea Handler, Gilbert Gottfried, Greg Behrendt, David Alan Grier and many, many others. She's currently a member of the "5 Funny Females" national tour, and was thrilled to host red carpet interviews at Nickelodeon's 2009 "TV Land Awards" in Los Angeles.
Aside from radio and comedy, Sandy is also an experienced host. She's entertained crowds of 15,000 for sporting events at the HP Pavilion; hosted summer concerts at San Jose's "Music in the Park"; conducted live artist interviews, and has an extensive amount of charity work under her belt (including running two full marathons as a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's 'Team in Training'). She's also hosted an array of corporate events (auctions, fundraisers, awards nights) and has professional voice-over training from Voice Trax of Sausalito. When she’s not on camera or behind a mic, she’s probably trying to find out more ways to be on camera or behind a mic. And...eating cake.
Always the quiet one in class, Wesley Hoffman would find a way in the class to make jokes with other students while the teachers weren't paying attention. In high school, only a select few seemed to understand his puns and style of humor, which motivated his classmate to create the term "Wes Joke," which has stuck ever since. Wesley did his first comedy routine at DeAnza College making fun of his prominent Adam's Apple, which was televised on DeAnza's Cable Channel. Wesley went onto San Jose State where he appeared in numerous stage productions. He played the lead role of George Milton in John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men".
Today, Wesley continues to audition for theatre productions and perform stand-up comedy. "The two different art forms really help make each other stronger," Wesley says. "I love the challenge of stand-up, because it is only you, yourself, and there are expectations to make people laugh. With theatre, you have a much bigger support group and a script that is written for you, but the adrenaline is still just as amazing." Wesley has performed comedy all over the bay area (San Jose Improv, Rooster T. Feathers, Stanford University and more) and currently produces two monthly comedy shows in Gilroy and Morgan Hill.
Now go and get yourself all pretty for us. Most importantly, make sure you shave your legs and your pits. Even more importantly, please wax your back. (A pube trim wouldn't hurt anybody either.)
Then tune in!
